Into the darkness i continue
Blazing on the horizon, the sun began to set as I walked slowly along the road, past the greying buildings in the smoke-choked streets. Fires blazing inside all the buildings, representing the horrors of the ghosts of past. Thoughts danced through my head of children playing in park, innocent men working in sky rises, of what this city used to be like.
From beneath my sloping hat I looked down the vacant roads, searching for signs of life, searching for a freedom from this devoured world in which I never belonged. Haze steamed from the alleyways and the grates so ill fitted into the ground, leading to unexplored hellish depths, of which icy fingers would devour if one stepped to close. I stopped at the beginning of the alleyway, squinting into the darkness and the haze, still searching. Suddenly the haze twisted and swirled towards me, as if paranormally possessed, engulfing me as if to suck my very soul from my body, pulling me into the darkness behind it.
